Grade 4. Approx. duration: a little less than five minutes.
Set consists of two performance scores.
This setting of a text by the Spanish poet Francisco Quevedo features an essentially pentatonic vocal line and a tonally ambiguous treatment of seventh and ninth chords. This, along with the presence of whole tone scales (in the bridge between the work’s two sections), is reminiscent of an Impressionistic sonority.
The set includes a piano score and a vocal part. Printed in the piano score is a translation of the poem.
