Solo for unaccompanied oboe.
Grade 4. Approx. duration: two minutes.
Set consists of a performance score.
“Goodbye” was composed in 1999 as a parting gift for two of Walker’s most accomplished oboe students in the National Conservatory of Music in Quito, Ecuador. The work is cast in a rondo-like form, in which its rhythmic energy accelerates to a central section only to return to its point of origin. The last two notes of the piece, a pair of quarter notes, are intended as the musical equivalent of the word “Goodbye.”
John L. Walker, oboe.
Ashley Rollins, oboe.
