Wind quintet for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon.
Grade 4. Approx. duration: five and a half minutes.
Set includes a score and five parts.
This wind quintet is a recently composed re-imagination of the tango in which the composer uses stopped tones and other effects in order to imitate the sounds of the typical tango ensemble.
Writing about the Lyrique Quintette and their recently released CD, “Arrivals and Departures,” in the September 2021 issue of The Clarinet, Bruce Creditor says, “Verdié’s graceful 5-minute Tangoescente is my favorite among these appealing pieces. She has written a sensuously slow and graceful work capturing the essence of the tango for the concert hall. A few extended instrumental techniques add fresh timbres and percussive interest.”
