Clarinet quartet.
Grade 4. Approx. duration: eight minutes.
Set consists of a score and four parts.
A Lenda do Corpo Seco (The Legend of the Dry Body) was commissioned and premiered by the Brazilian clarinet quartet, Nó na Madeira, in 2013. It’s inspired by the famous legend from the Brazilian Mantiqueira mountain ranges that are located in the southeast part of the country. The legend tells the story of a man so evil that he wasn’t accepted even in hell. His spirit now wanders the forests in a shape resembling dry brambles, waiting to surprise unsuspecting passersby.
The Legend of the Dry Body is written in choro form, which, as a characteristic urban instrumental genre, actually satirizes the dramatic theme of the piece.
Nó na Madeira Quartet 6/6/2017 at the Mario de Andrade Library.
