Quartet for soprano (C4-G5), tenor recorder (doubling bass) and two guitars.
Grade 5. Approx. duration: four and a half minutes.
Set includes a score and four parts.
Composed in 2009, this work was premiered on January 13, 2010 at the University of Chile during its tenth festival of contemporary music.
This work is a setting of a poem written by the composer in which Chile’s prairies become a sort of metaphor for life itself, its memories, its dreams and its soul. The voice, that varies between sung pitches and spoken text, is supported by the ephemeral sound of the recorder, that is sometimes pushed into tone bending, and a pair of guitars, that at times mimic the voice and the recorder and at times slide from one chord to the other.
The poem, in Spanish, is included, along with a literal translation into English.
COPIUENSAMBLE
Miryam Singer, soprano; Danitza Morineau, recorder; Sebastián Molina and Alexis Vallejo, guitars.
René Silva, director.
