Sadiel Cuentas
Sadiel Cuentas (1973-) has written thirteen chamber and six orchestral compositions. He studied composition in Peru’s National Conservatory with Enrique Iturriaga y Dante Valdéz. In 2006 his work, “Cadenza, Introduction and Allegro,” was awarded an honorary mention in the Peruvian National Conservatory’s composition contest. His work, “Via de la Croce,” was awarded an honorary mention in the Peruvian/Chinese Choral Association Choral Composition competition in 2007. His chamber opera, “Post Mortem,” was premiered in the Spanish Cultural Center in 2012, and his musical, “El Vigilante Enmascarado,” was first performed in Larco Theater in October 2013. He has written four chamber operas and a musical with Peruvian librettist Martiza Núñez. His violin concerto was premiered in February 2014 by Peru’s National Orchestra with Carlos Johnson as soloist. Peru’s National Children’s Choir has commissioned three chamber operas from him in 2014 and a song cycle based on traditional Peruvian songs in 2015.
