Solo for unaccompanied violin.
Grade 5. Approx. duration: eight minutes.
Set consists of one performance score.
These preludes were composed for violinist Roberto Alonso Trillo, who recorded them on his album, "Solo: El violín contemporáneo." The work is in three movements, two slower ones that bookcase a faster middle movement, and was inspired by the popular Panamanian legend about a man, who, after losing his beloved, jumps into a hammock where he eats nothing but cabanga (a dessert made out of coconut). The work presents various facets of his nostalgia, such as bitterness, anguish, anger and resignation. These preludes were premiered by Graciela Núñez in January 2013 at the San Francisco de la Montaña Festival in Veraguas, which is a Panamanian province southwest of Panama City.
This piece is on the MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) Prescribed Graded Music List.
