Trio for soprano (C4-B5), mezzo-soprano (G3-D5) and clarinet in A.
Grade 5. Approx. duration: twelve minutes.
Set consists of two performance scores and one part.
Although this work is a troped Kyrie that can be used as a part of the Ordinary of the Catholic Mass, it is not intended as part of a Mass; rather, it is equally suitable as either a worship piece or a concert work. The trope “tuae propitiationis consequatur effectum” is taken from the vita of Saint Catherine, a first-century martyr who, on the verge of her martyrdom, declared that “whosoever asked a favor from the Lord through me, his favor he shall receive.” The trope is a fragment of the original Latin of that phrase, from the Legenda Aurea compiled by Jacobus de Voragine. The performing part for the clarinet includes the singers’ lines.
