Set consists of one performance score.
Cabangueando, written as a birthday present for Costa Rican clarinetist Ana Catalina Ramírez, is based on a popular legend about a miserably nostalgic man who does nothing more than lie about in a hammock eating coconut. Behind a nearly Baroque aesthetic is hidden a “cumbia,” which is a traditional Panamanian dance song that is characterized by frequent syncopation and polyrhythms. Ana Catalina premiered this piece in January 2011, in Santiaga de Veraguas, Panama.
Kristi Hanno, clarinet.
