Holding a doctorate from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), Hugo Pilger (Porto Alegre-RS, 1969) began his cello studies at Fundarte (Fundação de Artes de Montenegro-RS) with Milton Bock. In 1987 he went to study in Rio de Janeiro with Marcio Malard and in 1994, in the class of Professor Alceu Reis, completed the course of Bachelor of Cello Instrument at UNIRIO, institution in which he completed his Master of Music in 2012. As a soloist, he led of several orchestras, among them: the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Campinas, the Curitiba City Chamber Orchestra, the Bahia Symphony Orchestra, Petrobras’ Symphony Orchestra, Ouro Preto’s Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theatre Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of Porto Alegre.
