Commissioned through an educational project at the University of the Arts in Guayaquil, Ecuador, “Pavanes & Galliards” is a clarinet trio written with a pedagogical intent. Pavanes and galliards, which are characteristic dance-like pieces for the lute from the 16th century, serve as the inspiration for this set of ten movements for clarinet trio that can be performed in any order.
