Alvaro Zúñiga’s work, Intersecciones, for marimba and three percussionists was performed on May 9 at the Music Academy in Krakow, Poland, by Peruvian percussionist Mosés Siura and three of his students.
On May 15, Juan López-Maya participated in the ”Documentos musicales y sonoros” seminar that took place in the America Hall of the Chilean National Library. His lecture, on the music composed for and/or performed at Masonic lodges in South America, was titled, ”Los cuadernos de música de la logia Unanimidad, una radiografía de la vida social en una ciudad venezolana del siglo XIX.
Sadiel Cuentas was interviewed by Gloria M. Pineda for an article that was published in the Peruvian magazine, Variedades, on May 17.
On May 18, Federico Núñez performed Carlos Guastavino’s Las presencias no. 6 , “Jeromita Linares” on a program in Buenos Aires presented by the National University of the Arts Camerata.
Two works by Alexandre Travassos, his Fanfarra and Take Me into the Garden, and his arrangement of Praetorius’s Bourée, will be performed on June 1 by the Youth Orchestra of the São Paulo Municipal School.
On June 6, Luis Pérez Valero will be presenting a paper on the big band recordings produced during the 1930s as part of a conference on audio and sound in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
