Federico Núñez, who is also an accomplished guitarist, was recently in the United States giving recitals and master classes. While in Santa Monica, California, he stopped by the Guitar Salon International showroom where he recorded Abel Fleury’s Estilo pampeano.
This past Wednesday, Swiss conductor Nicolaus Rauss and the Orquesta Clásica Universidad de Santiago gave the premier performance of Rene Silva’s work, Ocultaron las estrellas, pero quedan las estelas… (del cielo azul) on a program that included works by Johannes Brahms and Franz Krommer. The concert, that took place in the Aula Magna of the University of Chile in Santiago, was warmly received.
On April 12, Luis Pérez Valero will be conducting the premier performance of Más papel y menos plomo, by the Mexican composer Jerónimo Rajchenberg, at the Universidad de las Artes in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
In San Juan, Puerto Rico, Armando Luis Ramírez has been giving informal lectures for the benefit of patrons and attendees of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Next Tuesday, he will be discussing works by Mendelssohn, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky in advance of the Orchestra’s concert that is scheduled for Saturday, April 15.
