Nilo Velarde’s work, El Ayla (forthcoming, Cayambis Music Press), was performed on May 17 in Guadalajara’s Alarife Theater by the Chaos Project ensemble.
Angel Hernández wrote to inform us that he collaborated with Patricia Kopatchiskaja and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in two concerts, the first on May 19 in Hamburg, Germany; and the second on May 21 in Berlin. On May 28 the renowned violinist, Marianna Oczkowska, premiered two of Angel’s works in Vienna.
Fernando Oliveira won a scholarship from the Icon Arts Academy program to write a piece for soprano and four percussionists. The scholarship includes a one-week stay for rehearsals, concerts, studies, workshops and meetings in Sibiu, Romania. However, since airfare is not included, Fernando created a crowdfunding campaign, and thanks you in advance for your generous support.
Cayambis Artist Francesca Arnone performed SUNY composer Margaret Schedule’s work, QwfwQ on the first NY Phil Biennial concert with her flute/violin duo, reACT, on June 5th at Brooklyn’s National Sawdust. At the end of June she’ll be performing new trios on two different programs at the International Double Reed Society’s Georgia conference, including Emerson Essays (2015) for flute, viola, and bassoon by Todd Gabriel, plus the world-premiere of Serenade for Angels (2016) by Bevan Manson for flute/alto flute, oboe, and bassoon.
The group Three by Radio presented a work by Carlos Camacho, his Construcción Folclórica Panameña and by Andrés Carrizo, his desde ese momento, at the Alfredo de Saint Malo festival in Panama’s Anita Villalaz Theater on June 8.
“Incans, Liberators, and Jungle Princesses: the Development of Nationalism in the Art Music of Ecuador,” by John Walker, was just published in the Spring/Summer issue of Latin American Music Review.
On June 13, the mixed ensemble work Titiritero de sombras, by Nicolás Hernández, was premiered by the Ad Libitum Ensemble on the campus of the Industrial University of Santander in Colombia. Nicolás played the guitar on a program that also included the premieres of four other compositions by Colombian composers.

Cayambis Artist and cellist Dorotea Racz is currently on a South American tour, during which she is visiting Peru, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.
Luis Ernesto Gómez’s Asuntos del trópico (marketed in the US under the title, Tropical Matters) is being premiered today in the Ducal Palace in Genoa, Italy as part of the 22nd International Festival of Poetry that is currently underway in that city.

On June 30, Luis Pérez Valero will be conducting the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Carabobo Conservatory of Music in first performances of concertinos for clarinet and strings and for oboe and strings. The program will also include the South American premiere of John Walker’s work, Interludes and March, for string orchestra.
