This trio was premiered by three members of the Cuarteto Chile, Fredy Wang, Raúl Martínez and Adolfo Odnoposoff, on July 17, 1944, at the Cervantes Hall in Santiago, Chile. The next day, referencing the premiere of the Mackenna Trio, an anonymous reviewer wrote: ”Hindemith‘s music, like that belonging to Carmela Mackenna, has a very special characteristic: it enters through the ear canal, stops in the labyrinth, goes through all of its sections, but it does not occur to it to go down to the left side, where emotion resides.”
