In this work, which is a clever combination of a strong Mozartean flavor with Latin American rhythms, the composer transforms the flutists into highly imaginative children who, through the course of the work, assume various personalities, role play and tell fascinating stories to one another.
Composed in 2000, it was premiered in Caracas by Venezuela’s national flute orchestra on June 24, 2012. The New York Flutists, under the direction of Soo-Kyung Park, performed its North American premiere on September 23, 2018, at the Christ & St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in New York City.
This piece received an Honorable Mention in the 2017 National Flute Association Newly Published Music Competition in the “Chamber Works for Flutes” category.
