Between 1919 and 1932, Alfonso Leng composed ten preludes for piano. Two of these, the third and fourth preludes, appeared in 1927 under the title, “Preludio y Estudio,” in the August edition of the Chilean music journal, “Marsyas.” According to an accompanying biographical text about the composer and his most recent compositions, at the time of their appearance these two pieces had not yet been published. Later, however, the first four preludes were published by that country‘s National Conservatory.
