Finished in 1920, in this symphonic poem Leng musicalizes the story of an Icarus-like figure found in the pages of Pedro Prado’s 1920 novel, “La muerte de Alsino.” Premiered in Santiago, Chile, on May 22, 1922, it was subsequently performed in that same city in 1931, 1942 and 1957. Additional information regarding its performance history, as well as other relevant details, are printed in a prefatory section that precedes the score.
Formatting. The conductor’s score is printed on tabloid sized (11x17) paper coil-bound on the left hand edge; the library/institutional/perusal score, as well as the orchestral parts, are printed on 9x12 paper.
