Trio for violin, viola and cello.
Grade 4. Approx. duration: ten and a half minutes.
Set includes a score and three parts.
This piece was premiered in 2014 at the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival in Virginia by the Rodes Farm String Trio (Dillon Robb, violin; Christian Rogers, viola; and Ryan Echols, cello).
An atonal piece, it is composed using pitch sets that have their own sound properties and different relationships between them. In addition, the piece uses several Colombian folk rhythms.
In order to help the players to recognize the different Colombian rhythms, the composer has placed the name of each (Pasillo, Bambuco and Cumbia) in the score. Pasillo and Bambuco are rhythms from the Andean and central regions of Colombia; the Cumbia is from the Caribbean coast. Regarding tempo markings, it is possible to play a little more slowly than is indicated.
