Inspired in the play of light and shadow in a common area at night, this work develops as a rhythmic and melodic game between two motives that are continuously transformed over time. “Danza en un espacio gris” reveals a number of different influences, such as the effect on the composer of Latin rhythms and North American free jazz. In addition, the piece serves as an invitation for the saxophonist to initiate himself in the world of extended techniques for his instrument.
