Composed in 2017, the underlying concept of the “Polarities Sonata-Suite” is a mixture of formal structures and creative energy. It consists of four movements that can be performed separately. However, the formal aspects of the work reveal a certain conflict of identity: neither a full-blown sonata, nor exclusively a suite, it could perhaps be better understood as a composition that seeks to flee from the dance floor, or, that eschews labels altogether while still trying to be both a sonata and a suite at the same time, or maybe neither at all. The work is dedicated to Venezuelan guitarist Jonnathan El Barouki.
