Solo for unaccompanied clarinet.
Grade 5. Approx. duration: three and a half minutes.
Set consists of a performance score.
In the Mapuche language, spoken by the indigenous inhabitants south-central Chile and southwestern Argentina, “lihué” (catch light in English) refers to an errant song that alludes to an imaginary and timeless South American past. The name, along with the word “dulce” (sweet), forms a pun that gives name to an enigmatic figure, who is barely visible in the shadowy dusk.
Anthony Aguayo, clarinet.
