Piano solo.
Grade 4+. Approx. duration: slightly more than three minutes.
Set consists of a performance score.
Commissioned in 1993 by Aktive Musik from Essen, Germany. The title refers to the Spanish name of a playing card and also the title of a novel by Argentine author Antonio Dal Masetto, in which the main character goes through a period of quiet introspection while on his to South Patagonia. It is in this spirit that the composer writes that this piece “is not a departure nor an arrival, it may rather be a modest bench by the road, or a rest before crossing a bridge, just a quiet moment to reflect and to take what is present.”
The Chilean-American pianist Paulina Zamora recorded this work in 2012.
