This wind quartet, composed in 1955 and revised in 1991, was given its US premier on April 7, 1992, at Illinois State University. It was performed by Max Schoenfeld, flute; Tim Hurtz, oboe; Aris Chavez, clarinet; and Michael Dicker, bassoon.
