The three musical miniatures that comprise this work for alto flute and piano were first sketched out over ten years ago when Carrizo took a Bartok seminar as a graduate student at Bowling Green State University. Recently completed, the first movement is inspired by Bartók‘s song, “Felsöorsoszi;” and the second by the thirteenth of Bartók’s “Fifteen Hungarian Peasant Songs.” The third movement is an original composition “à la Bartók.”
