Wind quintet for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon.
Grade 4. Approx. duration: twenty-four minutes.
Set includes a score and five parts.
Brescia composed two wind quintets, of which this is the second. Composed in 1922, it was premiered that same year at the Berkshire Chamber Music Festival in Massachusetts by members of the Philadelphia, New York and Boston symphony orchestras. A substantial early 20th century work for wind quintet, it reveals a syncretic blend of European, Latin American and African-American influences.
Approximately 24 minutes long, the work’s three movements are subtitled as follows: “Preamble,” “Intermezzo,” and “Finale.”
