Bassoon with piano accompaniment.
Grade 4. Approx. duration: five and a half minutes.
Set includes piano score and one part.
The term “yaraví” probably comes from a Quechua word that means “poem.” Thought to have pre-dated the Spanish conquests, the yaraví is characterized by its melancholy mood and slow tempo. From about the middle of the 20th century it became customary to append a coda-like section in the style of an “albazo,” which is quicker and more festive than the yaraví. Though not based on an actual yaraví, Beltrán nevertheless captures the essential essence of this folk genre in this endearing work for bassoon and piano.
