Duet for flute and guitar.
Grade 4. Approx. duration: seventeen minutes.
Set includes performance score and one part.
This work makes use of a loosely constructed sonata form to recreate various genres of popular Ecuadorean mestizo music, such as the tonada, pasillo, yaraví and albazo, all treated in a modal language without any type of vanguardism. It was composed in the year 2000 and premiered that same year by the Ecuadorean flutist José Rosales and the American guitarist José Lezcano as part of Ecuador’s yearly international flute festival.
