Hearing flutist Jessica Dunnavant and saxophonist Paula Van Goes while in Florida in 2013, Beltrami was inspired to write a trio which would contain the impressive instrumental resources the two command while at the same time being consistent with the individual personalities of these two artists.
In a language customary to Beltrami, he switches between the experimental and the tonal. The piece also features a bit of lyricism as well as drama. After a middle section that reveals the flavor of the Brazilian "seresta," the work concludes with a fast and playful section.
