Young string orchestra (Violin I & II, Viola/Vln. III, Violoncello, String bass, Piano).
Grade 2. Approx. duration: two and a half minutes.
Set includes a score and six parts.
The composer says, ”I was inspired to write this grade two composition for young orchestra by the ‘mazamorra paisa,‘ which is a beverage made from corn prepared in Colombia‘s Antioqueña region. At the same time, I want to capture, in music, the particular feeling of joy when I enjoy a traditional mazamorra prepared by my grandmother.
Musically, this composition explores the rhythmic independence of its parts (by getting close to the technique known as ‘sesquiáltera’), as well as its dynamic contrasts between phrases. Although I have included a part of piano, it is not indispensable to the performance of this piece.”
