Tres mundos para dos jugadores
was composed for the Belgian Duo Antwerp, which consists of the distinguished Valencian bass clarinettist Daniel Bellov and Chinese marimbaphone player Adilia Yip. The three diverse regions provided the stimulus for a work containing allusions to Chinese opera, early Renaissance polyphony of the Netherlands school and traditional Valencian music, a blend of the hieratic, the mystic and the corporeal. The Chinese material in particular is subjected to chromatic intensification and melodic development, but the other music is not untouched by similar modifications.
