The “garbosa” or “coqueta” is a typical female character of the zarzuelas of the late 19th and early 20th century. This grade two piece from Venezuela uses rhythmic patterns and melodic styles from Spanish and Latin American dance genres, such as the “jota,” the “zamacueca” and the “cueca.”
