Alfonso Leng composed fourteen lieder, of which nine are settings of texts in German, three of texts in French and two of texts in Spanish. Composed in 1922, Cima was Leng‘s second setting of a Spanish text. Leng dedicated this song to two women, of whom the second, Marta Petit de Huneeus, may have been the first to perform this song in 1927.
