Composed in 1931, this set of six preludes for piano reveals ternary-like structures and an extended tonal harmonic language.
Performance History.
An article printed in a Berlin newspaper on April 25, 1931, includes a brief review of a piano recital given by Chilean Claudio Arrau, which included four of the six preludes, but without specifying the ones that were performed.
Three of the six preludes (nos. 2, 4 and 6) were premiered in Chile by Armando Moraga on July 8, 1938, at the Municipal Theater in Santiago.
