Trio for flute and two guitars.
Grade 4. Approx. duration: four minutes.
Set includes a score and three parts.
The “tonada” is the name of a kind of dance and music that developed among the mestizo population of Ecuador. As a musical genre, the “tonada” appears to have its roots in the mixture of indigenous Andean rhythms and mestizo song. It’s also said by some to have a close relationship with the Andean “yaraví.”
In addition, the “tonada” has a characteristic rhythmic structure within a compound duple meter, and also has a very close association with the guitar. In this work, Beltrán respects these traditional elements while at the same time making use of a richer and more varied harmonic and melodic palette.
