Commissioned by the Deconet Duo, this four-movement work describes a cyclist’s journey across a Latin American city, beginning with his morning route and ending as he passes by a market during afternoon rush hour. The piece makes use of an extended harmonic language, with frequent tonal references, and rhythmic patterns typically found in the salsa.
