Violin accompanied by piano.
Grade 5. Approx. duration: seven and a half minutes.
Set consists of a piano score and one part.
The composer says: “I’ve been always fascinated by the stimulating effect that music provokes in my mind when listening to it. Now that I can consciously affirm that my music is more about sensory messaging rather than storytelling, I’ve begun to envision two series of scores based on specific colors I’ve seen or felt while composing, playing, or listening to music.
“‘Cromofonía,’ the colorful sound series, designed to be scored for different genres, such as chamber ensembles, voice, orchestras, is inspired by (but not necessarily imitating) Berio’s ‘Sequenzas,’ in which I want to explore the musical environment of living in an immersive experience of color as phenomena: its purity and derivatives, the dichotomy of light and shadow, reflections, and contemplation.
“In this first installment, my goal is to provide an opportunity to experience the proposed range of colors through a Latin-American filter, with its dynamic force, melodically driven elements, and its ternary rhythmical base to offer a few minutes of cinematic abstraction while carefully listening to it. Please bear in mind that this series also includes jazz-oriented thinking, so be prepared for an improvised section for both players, in which they will be able to explore their own perspective within the proposed musical ecosystem.”
