Set consists of a performance score.
In this volume of twelve duets, the student is introduced to progressively shorter note values. At the same time, slower tempi give way to duets that feature a more moderate pace. Although each duet is cast in either C major or A minor, accidentals gradually begin to appear until reaching five sharps and five flats. The chalumeau and throat registers are used, while articulations are mainly confined to legato and staccato.
