Grade 4-5. Approx. duration: seven and a half minutes.

Composed in 2012, this work for flute orchestra represents a harlequin who sees himself for the first time in a mirror, which gives rise to an introspection and subjectivity that he had never experienced before. By concentrating on his image he undergoes a revelation. Inspired by Picasso’s painting, “Harlequin with a Mirror,” the work is dedicated to Venezuela’s National Flute Orchestra and its director, María Gabriela Rodríguez.
Instrumentation: piccolo, five flutes, two soprano recorders, five alto flutes (in G), two bass flutes and one contrabass flute.
