Inspired by modal music, in this work composed in 2014 the oboe recalls the Greek aulos by the way in which long melodic lines are interrupted by virtuous comments performed in the instrument‘s extreme registers. The work concludes with a “polyphonic” section that is enriched by multiphonic sonorities. Premiered on April 11, 2015, in Chile by José Luis Urquieta, he went on to record the work the following year on a CD titled “Nuevos aires chilenos.” Writing in ”Revista Musical Chilena,” Alvaro Gallegos notes that in this work, ”Herrera departs from timbral characteristics to work more with the melodic aspect in his work, ‘Taxidi.’ Motivic cells come and go to give form to a variety of themes.”
