The composer writes, “One day at breakfast, my two-and-a-half year old melodically proclaimed, ’I don't want anymore breakfast.’ Since that time, the phrase has become my family's preferred manner to let all of us know when one is full and no longer hungry. However, the musical characteristics of this phrase also inspired me to write a ‘son’ so that people outside of Mexico would be able to enjoy one of my country‘s most common and beloved folksongs.”
