Edited by Robert Osborne, “Two Songs” brings together in one publication the only completed songs believed to have been written by Teresa Carreño. However, as fully independent compositions, it was surely never Carreño’s intention that these songs be performed as a set.
Though the date of composition of these songs is not known, they may been written during the period 1863-1873, while Carreño was studying, concertizing and living in Europe. No record of a premier performance has yet been found. In the modern period, they were performed in New York City in 2018.
